CDE Program on Basic Life Support and Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice was organized on the occasion of International Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon’s Day on 13th February 2021 in Army College of Dental Sciences, Secunderabad. The lecture on BLS was enthusiastically delivered by the guest speaker, Dr. Ramakanth Reddy Dubbudu, who is a renowned professor and consultant Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon holding various international degrees and royal society memberships to his name. This was followed by a hands on course, where the delegates were given a practical demonstration on the CPR training dummies. Dr. Ramana Reddy, Prof. and HOD, Dept of OMFS, gave an informative lecture and shared his life experiences on dealing with Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice. A ‘pre test’ and a ‘post event test’ was conducted by Dr. Ichita Joshi, the Organizing Secretary, in which a drastic rise in average scores was noticed from a baseline level of 53% to a final average score of 93% after the lectures, proving the success of this CDE. The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Ramana Reddy, Prof and HOD and his team of faculty, Dr. Sukhvinder Bindra and Dr. Madhusudhan Rao, Staff, PGs and Interns of Dept. of OMFS. The CDE workshop was conducted with proper social distancing, masks and frequent hand sanitation. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, being one of the oldest branches of dentistry, is a unique speciality which acts as a bridge between the dental and medical fields.
