Oral Medicine and Radiology is a unique and a specialized branch of dentistry which includes a subset of dentistry, medicine and radiology. The oral medicine aspect is concerned with diagnosis and optimum oral health care of patients. It is mainly involved in patient examination, early disease detection, early detection of oral cancer and radiological evaluation and management of diseases of the oro-facial region. It also deals with the diagnosis and medical management of complex disorders affecting oral cavity and jaws. The undergraduates posted in this department are trained to examine the oral cavity, recognize and distinguish between the normal and abnormal features present in the mouth. They are also thought to manage oral mucosal diseases, salivary gland disorders, oro-facial pain and also provide dental care for medically compromised patients. The radiology aspect deals with the diagnosis using conventional and advanced dental imaging technology. SERVICES ORAL MEDICINE 1. OPD of the new patients reporting to ACDS 2.
